Kaky left today. Sad, sad, sad. As she was getting in the car I said, "Now, we expect you back ASAP." Ha, ha! She has been a TREMENDOUS help. I can't even begin to explain how helpful she has been. She has changed numerous diapers. She has given Morgan Kate bottles and tube feedings (yes, she can do those!). She has cooked the most "awesomest" meals (since it doesn't look like I will be cooking anytime soon). She has done load after load of laundry. She has cleaned. She has carried the car seat that is oh, so heavy. She has carried all of Morgan Kate's equipment in and out of the doctor's office. She has rocked Morgan Kate at all hours, day or night. She has even sat up all night with us so we didn't have to be alone. You name it and she has done it. She is one great mommy and a terrific grandmommy! We love you and miss you already!!
Morgan Kate's doctor's appointment went well. She weighed in at seven pounds and fourteen ounces. Eight pounds is not that far off! Dr. G said she sounded good and looked good. I'm sure I have mentioned this before, but Dr. G lets us come before any other patients arrive. It is SO nice because then we don't have to worry about Morgan Kate being exposed to colds, flu, etc. I just thinks it's really nice of them. Our biggest concern at the doctor was FEEDINGS. Ugh, even typing the word makes me cringe. Don't get me wrong - I know my daughter has to eat and grow and all of that, but feeding time is TOUGH WORK for all parties involved. When we first brought her home she fought the bottles, now she fights bottles and tube feedings. Bottles might actually be a tad bit easier these days. Whenever we are tube feeding her she fights it, she cries, she squirms, she just hates it overall. We have tried feeding her in the crib, feeding her while we hold her, feeding her in the car seat, you name it we have tried it and nothing is working. Oh and she is spitting up. We have her on Zantac for reflux, but I haven't seen much of a difference. It just seems like she is in so much pain and it absolutely breaks my heart. Today we talked about putting her on a different formula. Currently she is taking Similac Neosure (formula for preemies), but tonight we are going to try her on something different. Wish us luck!
Her next Synagis (RSV) shot and pulmonology consult will be on January 9th. I am very interested in seeing what the pulmonologist has to say about Morgan Kate's oxygen needs, lungs, etc.
This is a picture of Morgan Kate me when I was little. I happen to think it looks a little like Morgan Kate. I can always wish can't I?
P.S. I learned this new strike through thing from another mommy blogger. Just trying it out!

I love reading the blog even when I talk to you numerous times a day but NOTHING can compare to being there and sharing the special moments (sleepless nights too). I miss you, Trav, and Morgan Kate! MK will probably enjoy a break from my singing - after all, Kyle says I shouldn't even sing in the shower. You two are doing an awesome job - keep up the hard work. I'll be back soon. Love you Kaky.
Hey Girl,
Morgan Kate looks great. And, from your descriptions the feedings do sound like they are very frustrating. However, I am amazed at the weight she has gained. Once she gets hold of some real food watch out...I've seen her mama eat!!! I will come see you when Morgan Kate is ready for visitors. I pray for you guys daily. We miss you at school...keep in touch. :)
Love you,
Jessica
Hey! I hate to tell but Morgan Kate looks just like her dad :)! Things will get better, and you will adjust to things. I guess now you know why Uncle B would only agree to one child. They are a blessing, and you do have a terrific mom! The blog is wonderful and highlight of my day. Remember He holds you in His hand. Love, Aunt Terry
I love reading the blog and seeing and hearing the progress of Morgan Kate and You and Travis. It is like talking to you guys everyday. "MaMa" loves it too. I know it is frustrating when you are giving MK her feeds but just know Nurses get frustrated when it happens in the Hospital also. They as you, Travis, and Kaky and all of us want everything to go smoothly. We feel for those little ones. Be encouraged it does get better not necessarily in our time but in God's timing. Time is sometimes the best healer but it is the hardest healer. I pray that God continues to give you,Travis and Kaky strength. I also continue to pray God's healing hand on Morgan Kate that she will continue to grow. She is learning so well. Mommies, Daddies and Grandmommies we all want the very best for our children and Grandchildren. I pray that the new formula is better for her little tummy to tolerate. I also pray that God will touch MK in a very special way that she will be able to tolerate her feedings and the bottle better. She is our miracle baby and nothing is too big or too small for Him. Give her lots of Hugs and Kisses from "Aunt J" and "MaMa C" We love you, Travis and Morgan Kate. How is your brother doing? We will keep him in our prayers too. Until we see you again Godspeed.
If you want to talk at 2a.m. when your mom isn't there, give me a call......I hate to tell you, but Joel is usually up then too! I hope 8 months from now you are getting more sleep!! Seriously, you are doing a great job, even being sleep deprived. It's amazing the strength God gives you to do things you never imagined you could! But every time you look at your baby girl, you know it's worth every heartbreaking, frustrating minute! She is beautiful---I think she has your eyes! And I definitely know she has your fighting spirit! Take care of yourself too! :) Jenny
It's so good to see that you have a fabulous sense of humor, that is usually the first thing to go when you are exhausted!
We are so happy to hear that ya'll are home and everything is going great(except feedings). If you haven't tried it yet, try feeding her sitting straight up. While at Richland, that is how they told us to feed Abby since preemies have problems swollowing and all that stuff. We will continue to pray for ya'll and hope that does better with her feedings. Also, everynight Murphy and Abby says a special prayer for Morgan Kate.
In Christ, Josh, Shellie, Murphy, Abby
