Well, hello there blog world. It's been quite some time.
I couldn't let November come and go without documenting the mountain trip we took earlier in the month.
We took the trip to honor my daddy's 60th birthday. The big 6-0. We went last year and fell in love with our cabin and with Lake Lure, so we headed back to "our spot".This year we went down on Thursday night so that we could have an extra day there. It was well worth it. Next year maybe we will leave on Wednesday. Or Tuesday.
Friday morning we sipped coffee on the enormous front porch overlooking the mountains. We cooked breakfast and took our time getting ready. Just my speed.
After breakfast we headed into town to sightsee, shop and eat lunch. We had THE best red pepper bisque. I think that's what it was called. Regardless, it was delicious.
Before heading back to our cabin we stopped for chocolate milkshakes. Again, best ever. Seriously.Friday night Jessie and Kyle came up and stayed for the rest of the weekend.
That night we sat around eating (again), talking, laughing and just enjoying one another.
I promise that Trenholm went with us. She really was there. It's just that at this time she was 30+ weeks pregnant so hiking and wandering and walking were out for her. On a side note…only about five or so more weeks before we meet Baby Hardison!!
Saturday brought another morning of lounging and sipping coffee and just relaxing. When we finally did all get dressed we headed into town for lunch. Now that I think of it, we did a lot of eating.
After lunch we did spend some time working off our calories. We hiked and hiked and hiked.
We found this beautiful little waterfall behind our cabin. It was like a little slice of heaven.
It also took special skills to get to the waterfall and I was very proud of myself for leading the expedition. I could totally be a nature guide.
Of course the waterfall provided lots of photo opportunities.
The hike obviously worked up an appetite in all of us and we headed home to cook dinner and check on Trenholm.
We spent the evening cooking, talking, laughing and just hanging out. We also brought out the cake and birthday candles to celebrate the birthday boy.
That night we spent a lot of time playing the paper bag game. Oh.My.Goodness. So much fun and so much stretching.
Owens and Trenholm introduced us to this game this summer and now we all love to play it. Even MK. She's basically a pro.
Sunday morning brought cleaning up, packing and saying, "See you later". Because we will be back. Back to the mountains. Back to Lake Lure. And maybe back to our same little spot.
Look, there's Trenholm. I told you she went.
Already looking forward to next time!
