Just one week shy of eleven months and we have the green light. Both Dr. G and Dr. B agree that it's time to say goodbye to the apnea monitor. They have both read the results and conferred together and made the BIG decision. For the first time since birth Morgan Kate is monitor free, completely wireless.

Almost.

You didn't really think this "germ-a-phob, overly worried, paranoid, scared to death" mommy was just going to immediately stop using it, did you? Ha. I didn't think so. I am going to have her wear it tonight. However, while we are at the beach she will be sleeping in the same room as us (in the pack-n-play) and I will "wean" her then. Actually, I guess I am "weaning" myself. But I don't care. I have to wean myself. I can't just do something every single day for almost eleven months and then just stop. It takes me a little time. Especially something like this. Of course I am absolutely thrilled, but I always take baby steps.

Friends, we are off for our family vacation tomorrow. I can hardly wait. Several friends and even family members have said, "Vacation? Heather, you stay at home so you are always on vacation." Well friends and family, I must agree, but also disagree. And before I actually started staying home I may have made the same exact comment. Yes, I love staying home with Morgan Kate. Yes, I love being here everyday with her. And yes, spending time with my precious baby is comparable to vacationing everyday. However, this staying at home thing is no piece of cake. I don't care what any of you say or think. It's hard work and at the end of the day I am just as tired as my husband who works. So next week will be vacation for me. And I can't wait.

Yay!! What great news! Another step in the right direction for Morgan Kate! I know how hard it must be for you to actually stop using it though. We bought that Angelcare movement monitor for Kayley even though we were told she didn't need it and it isn't really proven to prevent SIDs, but it made me feel better so we got it. We just stopped using it around the time she turned 13 months old! A little paranoid? Yes! Ha!

From a fellow hardworking stay at home mom, AMEN!! It's challenging work to be home with your baby 24/7...some days I actually think it would be nice to have even a part time job so that I could get out of the house without baby girl and have a little break!

I totally understand! I worked 33 years in a school and now I am being a granny nanny to my two grand kids (Drew and Kayley) and I am WAY more tired when I get home than when I "worked" for a living. I love this to death, but it definitely is a big job and stay at home moms are way underrated!

Congrats!! I know it will be so nice without the monitor!

I know what you mean about vacation! I could sure use one right about now! This is the hardest job I have ever done! Have a great time!

That is great news. I know you will be worried for a while but it will certainly become second nature, I am sure.

I hope you have a great time on vacation. I know you will. Enjoy every minute of it and I can't wait to see pictures.

I am not a stay at home mom but I understand how hard it is to take care of a child during the day...that is a job. I remember being at home with Christian and when Shaun would walk through the door it was like "Oh another hand, AMEN!" People who say that stay at home moms have it easy either do not have children or are just blind to the fact of taking care of children. Enjoy your vacation...you deserve it, just as Travis does.

Amen to that! I think being a stay at home mom is actually tougher than working sometimes. We all still need a vacation, if anything just to be away from the house for awhile. Have a great trip!
