I snapped this picture earlier today. I like to think that Morgan Kate was saying her prayers and thanking God for such a wonderful day.

Morgan Kate had awesome nurses today and we got to see Dr. Edelson. She is one of the female neonatologists and she was great. I got to talk to her for a little while about the increased heart rate, her weight, etc. She was very patient and answered all of my questions. Morgan Kate's heart rate has increased some (it was perfect today) because she has been on caffeine. Yes, the same stuff I wasn't supposed to drink while pregnant with her. They are giving her this to help with her apnea prematurity and it causes her heart rate to rise some. I was also a little concerned about her weight. She hasn't lost any, but she hasn't gained any either. Dr. Edelson assured me that this is okay. Morgan Kate has been tolerating her food which they have now increased to 3.8 cc and will continue to increase by .3 cc every 12 hours. She also delivered the results of the brain ultrasound and it was beautiful. There was no bleeding on the brain at all. I was so relieved!! Your prayers are definitely working - please keep them coming. Her lateral ventricles were on the high side of normal, so they will rescan in about two weeks. However, Dr. Edelson said this is typical in preemies and should fix itself.

I also got to kangaroo with her for over two hours today. Her nurse got the room really dark and quiet and situated Morgan Kate really well. She was a perfect little angel and they were even able to turn her oxygen off the entire time I was holding her. It was a great day!

Sounds like yesterday was a good day indeed! It has gotten my morning off to a good start knowing that all is well with Morgan Kate! We prayed for her last night at church. Maybe that was when you made that precious picture.

Love,
Kathy Chaplin

Heather, Praise the Lord for the good news on the brain ultrasound! Psalm 84:7 says that God takes us from "strength to strength." This is one of the prayers I pray for Morgan Kate...step by step, strength to strength. We all miss you here at LMES but are so with you in our hearts. Love, Gwen

Hey my friend! It is such good news to hear that the brain ultrasound went well! We are praying for you all! I think about you often. Yesterday I shared the pictures of Morgan Kate with my Playful Pigs. We were talking about our names and how we got them. Since I knew how Morgan Kate "got" her name I shared-hope that was alright. The children loved the pictures. She is precious! I miss you! Much Love, Monica

Heather, Micki told me about your blog on Morgan Kate. She is such a beautiful girl. So precious and sweet. Yes, the Lord does have a purpose for what he does and he picks "Special Ones" to help him take care of his little blessing. Please give her a kiss for us all. All of you are in our prayers. I can't wait til she gets out so when you come down to see Micki, please stop by so I can get some of that precious, sweeeeeeet neck sugar!!! Take care of yourselves.
Lots of Love, Chery Schurlknight

Heather,
Your blog is wonderful. I love reading about your precious baby girl. You are such a good mama. Isn't it funny how you can love something so much that has been in your life such a short time? I think about your family daily and say a prayer for Mrogan Kate every morning during the moment of silence at school. We miss you so much! Hopefully we will be able to come up for a visit soon!
Love you,
