Today Morgan Kate had a pretty quiet day.

I was able to feed her a bottle at 12pm. She was being very stubborn and just would not take it. One minute she was sleepy and the next minute she was grunting and groaning - she makes the funniest noises! I wasn't sure if she just wasn't interested or if she was showing off for her company. Her Great Aunt Deborah and John stopped by to see her while she was feeding. I think she was more interested in entertaining them rather than taking her bottle. Her nurse came in after about twenty five minutes and worked with her some. In then end she took 30 of the 45ccs. Tonight Travis was able to feed her and she did a lot better. She took all except about 5ccs and finished in less than thirty minutes.

Morgan Kate had a chest x-ray early this morning. Dr. E said that the x-ray did not show any significant changes, but that Morgan Kate sounded better and her breathing looked more comfortable. She stayed between 34% and 38% on her oxygen for most of the day.

She weighed in tonight at five pounds and twelve ounces. I have some new pictures that I will post tomorrow.

Please continue to pray that Morgan Kate's lungs will mature. Please also pray as she is scheduled to have a follow-up head ultrasound sometime tomorrow.

Heather-
It was wonderful seeing you at lunch today. You always look amazing. I have such long winded thoughts so I am going to break my posts (long overdue) in two maybe three posts. First I wanted to send you a poem that one of my very best friends (my spiritual mentor) has written. This has to be one of my favorite poems ever:

STORMS
NEVER FEEL THAT IT IS YOU
WHEN THINGS TURN OUT ALL WRONG.
THE LITTLE TRIALS THAT WE GO THROUGH
JUST PROVE TO MAKE US STRONG.

IT TAKES A STONE UPON A STONE
TO BUILD A WALL SO FIRM.
THE WIND AND RAIN THAT BEAT IT DOWN
ARE LESSONS THAT WE LEARN.

REINFORCED WITH MORTAR MADE FROM
FAITH AND HOPE AND LOVE,
ASK THE FATHER FOR GUIDANCE
FOR HE'S WATCHING FROM ABOVE.

STORMS MAY COME AND STORMS MAY GO
SOME MAY BE FIERCE AND LOUD.
BUT REMEMBER ONE IMPORTANT THING
A RAINBOW WAITS BEHIND THE CLOUD.

KAREN DAMERON DALE

-- I can not even write words that compare to this poem. She captures the essence of all sufferings not just one in particular and reminds us in such sweet and gentle manner that a rainbow waits behind the cloud. It is beautiful!
KNOW that God loves you and He WILL provide YOUR rainbow.

Biblical Words of Wisdom:

JAM 1:3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance.

4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and
complete, not lacking anything.

Remember, I am a girl who loves analogies. To me, this verse is like when a woman is all dressed up and to make her outfit complete, she accessorizes with a strand of Pearls.... It can take anywhere from two to four years for a sea mollusk to make ONE pearl so imagine how long it takes to make a strand. In fact the mollusk creates a pearl as a defense mechanism from an intruder (sounds like the mollusk "perserveres" by producing a pearl) If a sea mollusk produces a beautiful pearl, imagine what YOU will produce through your perserverence.

Praying for you always,
Chi Anne

Hello again,
Mercy, I should post more often so I dont take up the whole page. I wanted to tell you about a Christian singer, Laura Story. She has a new CD out "Great God Who Saves" and one of my favorite songs on there (all of them are wonderful) is Make Something Beautiful- I took our youth girls to see Laura Story in concert one night a couple of months ago and she told us that her husband was diagnosed with a brain tumor. She became angry with God and frustrated that she mentally and physically would ball up her fists and ask Why? She made the comment that sometimes you walk down a road you think you are suppose to be on and all of a sudden you are detoured in a route that makes no sense but when you reach the end, you see that your "detour" made perfect sense as it leads you back to God. As long as He is leading you, every road is one of mercy, love, grace and hope. Laura Story said that her sister told her to open her hand finger by finger verses clinching them into a fist and surrender ALL to Him. From that circumstance made a beautiful song- I will have to get you the CD to do these words great justice but part of the chorus is....
" Take all of my life, all of my life and make something beautiful. So, I open my hand, I'm trusting your plan, to make something beautiful- so all can see, your work in me, if you make something beautiful."
She and her husband are a beacon of light to those who live in darkness, just as you are my friend and the miraculous journey of Morgan Kate Callahan.
Know that each day that you have spent in the hospital is one more day that you have grown closer to God. It is one more day that you are able to witness life in such a miracle, and one more day that you are given an opportunity to shine light upon those who live in darkness.
I can only imagine that you have grown weary from the life you live at the hospital and are ready to venture outside of those hospital walls with MK but remember, HOME is where the heart is.
No analogies on the next verse: it says it all....
The God of All Comfort
II Corinthians
3Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, 4who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God. 5For just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows. 6If we are distressed, it is for your comfort and salvation; if we are comforted, it is for your comfort, which produces in you patient endurance of the same sufferings we suffer. 7And our hope for you is firm, because we know that just as you share in our sufferings, so also you share in our comfort.

How wonderful it is to know that we are comforted by Christ.
Loving you always,
Chi Anne

Hey Heather! I know that your days must be getting long. Try to focus on the blessing of this quiet time. Morgan Kate is getting excellent care while she was supposed to still be baking inside of you. You get to observe that beautiful growth each day. You are actually getting extra time with her :) rather than dealing with indigestion. Cling to His word and know that He is in control. I had a mom day where I wanted to control everything for Maggie, and then I was reminded that I am not God, and I am not in control. I had to pray throughout the day to turn all my worries over to Him. Finally, about 5:00 I had a little peace. It doesn't get any easier when they get older :). Remember we all love you and pray for you often. Love, Aunt Terry
