Our afternoon "cranky hour" is improving and it's all because of Miss Morgan Kate.

I am laughing and shaking my head as I type this. Why in this world did Travis and I think that 9pm was a suitable bedtime for our baby girl? Just thinking about it makes me question my sanity. I mean I think I had a 9pm bedtime when I was in middle school. Ever since we have gotten Morgan Kate on a schedule we have been putting her in the bed around 9pm. For quite some time it has worked. However, lately she has just been so cranky in the afternoon and early evenings. After talking with other moms and my own mom we decided to try and put her down earlier. Tah dah! Amazing. We have been putting her down the minute the clock strikes 8:00 and sometimes even earlier. She has been going to sleep and sleeping until 9 or so the next morning. Now, don't get all excited. She's not sleeping through the night. I still feed her at 1am and Travis feeds her at 5am, but it feels like she is sleeping through the night because we share responsibilities. The past few days she has been a whole new baby. She is even napping better during the day. Poor baby! She's been completely exhausted and wanting to go to bed. What child can say that they wanted to go to bed and there parents kept them up?

I just have to remind myself - this is a learning process. Everyday I learn something new because of this precious little girl.

I cracked up over the comment about your bedtime being 9:00 in middle school - all good little girls should be in bed by then...ha ha. Hopefully she will get to be just like you...you would tell me you were ready to go to bed...."night night Mommy" were your exact words and off to bed you went. LY&MY. Tell my son in love hello!

How awesome is that!!!! I'm so happy for you and Morgan Kate of course :)

Allie won't do anything other than cat nap..she's only taken two 2 hour naps since she was born. Her bed time varies depending on her day but it's usually around 830 or so. She wakes up at different times every morning so she's not on a structured schedule..guess I should try that and it might work!

I think that the earlier the bed time the better. I can remember when Hunter was little he would be so worn out that he would not sleep well at night. As an adult this did not make sense to me. When I am tired I am ready to go to sleep. But I remember how cranky those times could be. I can also remember when we conquered the bedtime routine he and I were the better for it everyday. We both felt better! Glad everyone is doing well. Don't forget that if y'all need anything we would be happy to help!

Isn't it amazing how the slightest "tweaks" in the routine can make all the difference? Glad it's going better. I miss you!

I know you are relieved to have figured the sleeping thing out...babies just need tons of sleep :) Luke has been going down at 7 or 7:30 since we brought him home and I love it!!! He's happy and well rested and it gives Mark and I time to ourselves! I hope things continue to go well. Have a good weekend! love ya

I'm glad your schedule is working better. Both of my monkeys are in bed at 7:30-8:00 every night and sleep till 7:00 every morning. Put them to bed later, they get up earlier and are crankier during the day and its even harder to get them to bed the next night. Babies need their sleep. Plus, the 7:30 bedtime helps momma keep her sanity. Good luck figuring all this stuff out....its definitely a learning process.

Like you said it is a learning process. My second is getting ready to turn 1 at the end of this month and my first turns 3 mid April and it is still a learning process. The early bed time sounds good. She was probably not napping well and was cranky at early evening was because she was over tired. I am so glad that you guys are getting this down. A happy baby = a happy home!! Don’t beat yourself up, you are doing amazing.
