I'm not good at asking for things. I don't typically like to ask for help. I don't usually like to ask for favors. And I especially dislike asking people to give of their time or money. I'm not sure why I'm this way, but I am. And I don't think there is anything wrong with people who are comfortable asking, I'm just not. Therefore, asking you guys to buy a Team Morgan Kate t-shirt or donate to the March of Dimes or even join us for the walk is kind of difficult for me. It feels awkward. And I feel guilty for asking you guys to do it, especially three years in a row.

However, at the very same time, I know firsthand how important and vital the March of Dimes is. It's one of the very reasons my baby is here and is doing so well. It's an organization that is and always will be very near and dear to my heart. This time of year, when we are organizing everything for the walk, and then again on Morgan Kate's birthday, I am constantly reminded of the circumstances surrounding her birth. I am reminded of the day I found out I was dilated. I am reminded of the evening my water broke - 16 weeks too early. I am reminded of that Sunday morning when the nurses and doctors realized my placenta had ruptured and that Morgan Kate had to be delivered. I am reminded of the 107 days we spent in the NICU. I am reminded of those first weeks and months at home with oxygen and a feeding tube. And all of those things remind me of how thankful I am for the March of Dimes and people just like YOU who have donated your time and efforts and money. Without your support the March of Dimes would not be able to conduct the research that they conduct. Without that research my baby might not have had the lifesaving interventions that she needed. And without those interventions we might not have our baby. That is a lot to comprehend and take in.

Please know that while it's hard to do and while it makes me feel all awkward and guilty inside asking you guys to help, I do know that your support and donations and efforts are making a huge difference. They HAVE made a huge difference, just look at my baby girl.

I thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart!

UPDATE:
We have over 25 t-shirt orders, so the current price is $9.75. However, if we reach 50 orders the price goes down and at 75 orders it drops to its lowest price. Woo hoo! Also, our donations are at $187 right now. Awesome!!!!

One small, one large, please. ;) Stop with the guilt! It isn't like you are asking us to pay for your kid's college or to give you money for new floors... You just believe with a full heart that MoD saves lives - of babies AND their mommas - and you want others to know it, too! You are fundraising because you have been blessed immeasurably by this organization, not because you want to win a frisbee or a light-up picture frame. Seriously. There is nothing awkward about offering others the opportunity to celebrate mk's life and the fight for others like her to survive. What's awkward is when people see this opportunity and decide to buy something frivolous instead. Just sayin'.
