March Catch-up

The first weekend in March was beautiful. Seventy plus degrees. Sunshine. A little taste of spring.
Warm weather to us, means boat weather. Once the temperature hits seventy, we are OUT and ABOUT.
We had the best time just riding around, fishing a little, and enjoying the sneak peek of spring.
We didn't catch any fish and MK was quite disappointed. She thinks we are supposed to catch tons of fish every single time we go.
During the second weekend of March we attended Kayla and Tripp's wedding. Kayla's parents and my parents have been BFF since they were born. Literally. My mom and Kayla's dad, Mr. Johnny, were neighbors growing up. In high school, Mr. Johnny and my daddy were big buds. Now all four of the grownups and their children are good friends. Kayla is Kyle's age, so she's always been like a little sister to me - much closer than just friends. I was thrilled when she asked MK to be the flower girl in their wedding. Of course MK was over the moon, too!
MK did a great job at rehearsal and I knew then that Saturday was going to be a breeze!
I love going to weddings. I think it's so much fun to get dressed up, attend the ceremony -where 9 times out of 10, I'm going to cry - and then PARTAY at the reception. This wedding was no different. I kept it together while Kayla was walking down the aisle, but when she played a special song for her daddy, it was all over. Tears galore!
Before the wedding started, my mom and I stopped in the "bridal room" to drop MK off and to check in on Kayla and Mrs. Janice. Kayla was having some wardrobe malfunctions and it took several of us to get it all sorted out. Thank goodness that with all hands helping, the issue was resolved. Kayla looked beautiful!
MK was pretty adorable, too. She wore the same dress, hand smocked by Mammie, that she wore in Owens' wedding and Leigh Anne's wedding. It's a very special dress.
MK did such a great job. She walked down the aisle with a big grin on her face. She stood up the entire time and didn't try to sit down or roll on the ground. At the end, she even walked out, hand in hand, with one of the junior groomsmen. Precious! The wedding was beautiful and the reception was SO much fun!
This past week we were all out of sorts because Travis was in Ireland. Yes, an entire ocean away. MK and I don't do well when he travels in the states, much less internationally. Thanks to sweet family and friends, we survived.
Getting pictures of this little cutie also helped to pass the time and make the week go by a lot faster.
Wednesday night after church, MK and I had a little date night at Chick-fil-A. Mostly we just talked about how much we missed Daddy and how we were counting down the minutes and seconds until he was back with us.

Kaka and Gator came to keep us company Thursday night. We were so thankful!! They took us to dinner and then Kaka spent the night. Best night of sleep all week.
The next day Kaka and I went to MK's school to celebrate her summer birthday. It was fun going to her school and getting to be mom for the day, instead of teacher. After school, we grabbed Gator and headed to do a little antiquing and grab a bite of lunch. It was such a fun and relaxing day!

Friday night we headed to the airport to pick up Trav. The minute we saw his face - all was right with the world!! This weekend we have done nothing but hug him and kiss him and just enjoy that he is home!
